Eventful Stand Bookings up by 20%
Organisers of Eventful, the south coast’s only exhibition dedicated to event planning, have announced a 20% increase in the number of stands booked compared to their first show this time last year with strong interest from major names.
The colourful show is set to return to the Bournemouth International Centre on 9-10th October 2007, attracting fresh names such as The Portland Spa Conference & Banqueting Centre and The Three Waiters.
The Portland Spa Conference and Banqueting Centre is located on the Island and Royal Manor of Portland, at the heart of the World Heritage Coast in Dorset, offering a brand new, state of the art conference and event venue. Steeped in history and folk-lore, sited in one of the most rugged and scenic locations in the UK and complete with a sumptuous spa therapy suite, this highly flexible and purpose-designed venue is being launched along with a 21st century client focused conference product – adrenalin conferences.
Another example of a main brand in the event entertainment industry who has recently booked space are The Three Waiters. Their act involves three talented performers hoaxing as legitimate waiters and infiltrating your event. "The Three Waiters" are not wacky waiters but quite the opposite. The show provides sophisticated, high quality entertainment made up of some of the best performers opera and music theatre have to offer.
Eventful 2006 was the first of its kind for the region and attracted nearly 1200 buyers over 2 days. The show will be held again in the BIC’s Solent Hall, which features panoramic views across the seafront. More new names for 2007 include Curlywilly Productions, Drum Jam, Mechanical Fracture, Pyrotastic, American Theme Events, The Event Medicine Company and Trinity Photography.

First Time Eventful Exhibition Exceeds Expectations
The south coast´s first exhibition dedicated to event organisation, Eventful, has exceeded expectations, attracting nearly 20 per cent more visitors than initially anticipated by the exhibition´s organisers, the CEM Group. The colourful and entertaining free-to-attend event provided fun ideas, expert advice and a showcase for the best of the region´s event services to inspire event planners.
Eventful organiser, Nicola Deedman of the CEM Group, said: “Eventful has been a great success from both an exhibitor and visitor perspective. We achieved our key objective of creating a fun, lively and exciting exhibition on the south coast and we've had fantastic feedback from visitors who enjoyed their visit, gained new contacts, fresh ideas, and confirmed that they would certainly attend again. We've received very positive feedback from exhibitors who gained new leads and business contacts, and were keen to rebook. We´re very excited about the future of this event.’
The exhibition featured a wide range of acts, including acrobats, fire eaters, stilt-walkers, giant cricketers, nearly naked butlers, caricaturists, magicians and mind-readers. TV Chef Lesley Waters attracted the crowds with her fun and lively cookery demonstrations, producing mouth-watering dishes. Actress Nicola Duffett, formerly ‘Debbie´ in EastEnders, and due to star in the new Dr Who TV spin-off series Torchwood, made an appearance and helped Eventful exhibitor Progressive Resources launch its new ‘Celebrity Murder Mystery event´.
World Gold Medallist Derek Redmond motivated guests through his powerful speech and Debra Searle moved guests with her talk on how she became unofficially the fourth woman in the world to have rowed an ocean solo in 2001.
Visitors also enjoyed free massages, games, competitions and special offers in the Eventful Offer Book, food and wine tasting opportunities, alongside music, singing and dancing from a range of south coast performers.
The CEM Group´s visitor feedback survey showed that 95 per cent found new ideas and suppliers, and 90 per cent said they would attend again in the future.
Eventful visitor, Maria Tidy, Area Appeals Manager Berkshire, Hampshire and Isle of Wight for The Anthony Nolan Trust, said: “WOW - what a great day! I have a head full of new ideas for fundraising events and a pocket full of new business contacts. Eventful couldn´t have come at a better time and I had a wonderful day, and I particularly enjoyed the Lesley Waters cookery demonstrations.’
Exhibitor Simon Jones, director, Indoor Karting Centre Ltd, said: “The Eventful exhibition has been extremely worthwhile. I´ve met face to face with contacts from major businesses and organisations in the south that have been intending to make contact with our business for over six months and, as a result of this event, will lead to future bookings. It´s been very effective and has allowed us to meet directly with decision makers.’
